Bra fence to hit Waikato

A Waikato woman is starting a bra fence at her home in Meremere, near Pokeno.

Margriet Van Weersel says she got the idea from the iconic Cardrona bra fence in central Otago, but insists she isn’t just doing it for fun – she’s doing it for breast cancer awareness.

Weersel adds that the idea behind the fence is so that women from all over the community and beyond can pay tribute to those they have lost, or those that have suffered and survived from the disease.

Weersel says she already has donated bras to pick up to add to the collection.

She has wanted to set up the bra wall for a while to generate awareness and show support for those she holds dear that have endured the illness.

There will be a Facebook page set up to follow the journey of the bra fence. Weersel is also shaving her hair off on November 16 for the cause.
