Wild weather cuts power

Vector are struggling to restore power to over 1000 customers.

Wild weather has cut power supply to West Auckland suburb, Laingholm, and further North in the Kaipara District. Rural areas are the worst affected.

Strong winds around the top of the North Island have bought trees and vegetation on top of power lines.

Power is expected to be restored late this afternoon.

Vector spokesperson Sandy Hodge says “more severe winds are forecast today so further power cuts cannot be ruled out”.
