Hafthor Björnsson – otherwise known as “The Mountain” from Game of Thrones – has won the title of “World’s Strongest Viking” and broken a 1000-year-old weightlifting record in the process.
Icelandic-born Björnsson, 26, carried a log weighing 650kg and measuring 10 metres long on his back for five steps to secure his victory at the World’s Strongest Viking competition in Norway.
He broke the record, considered a legend, of Icelandic viking Orm Storulfsson who carried the log three steps before his back broke under the immense pressure.
“I’m on my way to my ultimate goal, to win The World’s Strongest Man! Nothing can stop me!” said Björnsson via Instagram.
