Police probe alleged injuries at Pride parade

Auckland’s colorful Pride Parade traveled along Ponsonby Rd last night, dazzling spectators with brilliant costumes, floats and talented entertainers.

But, apparently not so grand for some.

Police are set to review footage of an incident in which it is alleged police assaulted a protester. Police are investigating the alleged injuries sustained by the victim.

One woman reported that she was thrown to the ground, while other members of protest group “No Pride In Prisons” claim they were assaulted.

Last night’s festivities resulted in just one arrest for breach of the peace.

Police have no plans to lay charges.
