Longstanding current affairs show Campbell Live is facing a review.
On April 9, just two weeks after a celebratory 10 year anniversary, the host of the show, John Campbell, and his team were told that the show was facing a review.
TV3’s parent company MediaWorks announced it was conducting a formal review of the current affairs programme. MediaWorks blamed a dramatic drop in ratings and a need to improve the financial performance of the show as the reason for the review.
Campbell has stayed quiet about the possible axing, but continues to thank his audience for watching, saying “every viewer helps”.
Viewers were quick to show their support for the show. Campbell Live ratings spiked considerably within day of the announcement.
Student journalist Laura Barker took to the streets of Auckland to ask the question: “What do you think about the possible cancellation of Campbell Live?”
