Caitlyn Jenner’s gender transition is under scrutiny.
A petition created on Change.org is asking for the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to revoke the gold medal that Jenner, 65, won during the 1976 Montreal Olympics.
The petition states:
“We congratulate Ms. Jenner on these new development and wish her the best. However, this creates somewhat of a problem as Ms. Jenner (as talented as she is) claims that she has always believed herself to be truly female, and therefore, was in violation of committee rules regarding women competing in men’s sports and vice versa.”
Director of IOC communications Mark Adams says they see no problem with Caitlyn retaining her medal. “Bruce Jenner won his gold medal in the 1976 Olympic Games and there is no issue for the IOC,” says Adams.
Athlete-turned-reality star Bruce Jenner from keeping up with the Kardashians recently underwent an extensive transformation to become a female.
With a new image and a new name, Caitlyn Jenner was introduced to the world on June 2. Jenner become an internet sensation, breaking the world record for the most Twitter followers within a short period of time, with a generous 1 million in 4 hours.
Jenner spoke openly in an April interview with Diane Sawyer. “I have the soul of a woman” Jenner said. “For all intents and purposes, I am a woman”.
Jenner later revealed the transformation on the cover of Vanity Fair.
The reality star took to Twitter to discuss her transformation.

Rob Kardashian, Jenner’s step-son, found out about the sex change via a text message sent by his sister, Kim Kardashian.
Kim sent a photo of Caitlyn via text to a group of friends, including Rob. “Kim, why are you sending me this? Who is this woman? And why do I care?” replied Rob. “That’s Bruce! That’s Caitlyn!” said Kim. Rob replied: “She’s beautiful.”
