The highly anticipated Lorde/Disclosure collaboration, Magnets, has been released, and the music video has been viewed over nine million times on YouTube.
Seductive in leather, sultry and completely brutal, this is a Lorde we haven’t experienced before.
The 18-year-old singer co-wrote and co-produced the dance track with the English duo for their brand new album Caracal, which dropped on September 25.
In the video, the Grammy award-winner embarks on an affair with a married man. From her dominant walk and fierce gazes at the camera you can tell she is in control, which becomes very obvious as the rest of the video plays out.
The man’s affair takes a toll on his relationship with his wife when it gets abusive. The Royals singer tweeted after the release: “The most important part of the video is when you see her black eye as she turns away at the window.. hope it all makes sense from that point.”
Lorde and the wife team up to take down the man.
The music video ends with Lorde tying the man to a chair, pushing that chair into a swimming pool, and then lighting the pool on fire.
On Twitter she explained: “One of my life goals has always been ‘to one day play a hit girl who pretends to seduce then burns alive douche boyfriends.’”
The kiwi songstress is not the only artist Disclosure has teamed up with: Miguel, Sam Smith and The Weekend also feature on the album.
