Taylor Swift was a shoe-in with her nominations in major categories such as Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Music Video from her smash-hit album 1989.
Ed Sheeran’s chart-topping song Thinking Out Loud achieved two nominations with Kendrick Lamar raking in 11 nominations including Album of the Year.
This year’s heavyweights like Adele, Justin Bieber and Nick Jonas didn’t make the cut, as their albums weren’t released in time. The negative uproar from these artists’ fans caused Grammy Officials to release a statement on their website.
“For the 58th Annual Grammy Awards, albums must be released between Oct. 1, 2014, and Sept. 30, 2015,”.
The ceremony will be held on Monday, February 15, 2016, at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles, California.
