Auckland CBD is in chaos due to new development for an underground railway system.

The City Rail Links top priority project started in December last year and is estimated to be completed in 2024. Locals living and working in the CBD are not impressed with the expected duration of the project and meanwhile, getting around the city.

Many streets in the heart of Auckland central have been obstructed with construction, forcing bus routes to detour. City goers expecting to catch the bus directly to Britomart are now being dropped off at Albert Street and having to walk.

On the contrary, Auckland Transport is excited to showcase new modern architecture with these upcoming underground developments. Once completed, optimum accessibility and extra shared spaces will ensure a people friendly city.

Ultimately, Auckland Transport promises a better-connected downtown Auckland as double the amount of trains are expected to run through Britomart.
