TV Show Review:Catfish

Catfish photo by Ebony Magazine

Catfish is an American reality TV series that airs on MTV and is focused on revealing the true identity of the people we talk to online.

Sometimes it is the person in the photos but more than often a Catfish”, which is someone who pretends to be someone else on the internet. Catfishes usually steal photos and make up fake names.

There are quite a few things I like about Catfish. One of those would be the fact that it feels very real. Nothing feels scripted which is really great for shows like this. Another good element about the show is that it’s an interesting topic and can affect people of all ages and ethnicities – especially nowadays where our lives very much revolved on the internet.

The show also makes you aware how easy it is to pretend to be someone you’re not. It gets you thinking. It is also quite educational, especially for young people like my teenage daughter to be cautious.

It’s also quite exciting to see if the person they’re talking to is actually real or it’s a catfish.

Catfish is a great show and I’m sure a great majority of people will find the show interesting.
